Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in The House Next Door.

Our agency was created by the community and is dependant upon the community to help us provide the highest quality of services available to the families that we serve.

As a non-profit agency, The House Next Door relies upon the help of our friends and neighbors to continue our mission of nurturing and empowering families to help build stronger communities.

Whether you are available on a regular basis, or at special events, we welcome you to participate however and wherever you feel led.  Together we can continue to serve our community.  Won’t you join our team of volunteers and make a difference today!

We are currently looking for volunteers to work the reception desk at both of our counseling centers.   One is in Deltona, another in DeLand.   The volunteer would be working 20 hours a week answering phones, greeting clients, and scheduling appointments.

We also need volunteers to be tutors and mentors for children at our Homework Club.   This meets on Mon-Thursday from 3-5pm.   We have elementary students who need assistance with reading and math.   Many of the students come from Hispanic families where the parents do not speak English.  This is the only opportunity outside of school where they can practice their reading skills.   Please call Reggie at 386.734.7571 to find out more.

The House Next Door also has a Child Development Center for children birth-five years old on Church Street in DeLand.    We could use volunteers to help the teachers and their assistants  with the children.   We are open Monday-Friday 6am-6pm.  Please contact our Little House Next Door director Lisa Shannon at 740.8823.
